Paris, summer 2005. "Let's write a pop song." Surviving on a diet of John Hughes, John Waters and David Lynch movies, it's in their tiny Parisian apartment that Jez and Caz perfected the recipe for their dirty-minded angular-electro-pop-rock. Accompanied by Chaz and Toz, they chose a moniker in fitting with their green and orange attire: Molloy was thus born.

London, summer 2007. Many pop songs later, the now Shoreditch-based Molloy released their first single, Tracy (Way Out Records), to critical acclaim and a digital mini album, This Is Fucking Brilliant (Kitty-Yo) which was Steve Lamacq's album of the week on Radio 1. They have also been supported and played by radio djs Alex Zane and Cheeky Pete (XFM), Tom Robinson (BBC6) and trendy Durr dj Jonjo.

Molloy have now finished recording their new 4 track EP, Thursday Electric, which will be released this autumn on upcoming Parisian label Silverstation Records and will be followed by a European tour.

They've toured all over London in their green and orange molloymobile and their bespoke live performance – live meaning no sequences or backing tracks! - with toys, telephone, megaphone and all analogue equipment, has earned them this year’s INDY Award for "Best New Wave/Progressive Act" after being nominated by XFM-backed promoters Broccoli Music. They were also selected to perform at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival on the XFM/PRS stage.

And Europe's taking an interest too after some great gigs in Germany and a very successful mini tour in France, where they also received high profile press and national radio play.

What people say:

"Garish dayglo coloured fun." Ireallylovemusic

"A punk-girl vocal, jagged guitar and a fuzzbox holding the whole thing together. One can imagine MOLLOY performing this as the house band in a fetish club. Channelling Devo and Hot Hot Heat, with a splash of John Waters and a dash of Russ Meyer - imagine that little lot in a studio and you’ll get the idea. Its infectious, electronic pop-punk and is destined for cult greatness (at the very least)." Whisperin & Hollerin

"Get your stripper heels on and get up on that floor, because, this time, it's a no-holes barred minxy electroclash bash round at Molloy's, and the beats are on them." Stool Pigeon

"Its suggestive sexy electro that makes you wonder if the lead singer is horny 24/7.." Silent Dave's Blog

"Molloy are fine examples of musicians getting it right." Broccoli Music

"Their music combines the unconventional sound of the B52s with the dirty beats of peaches and then adds the hard rock guitar riffs of ac/dc and mixes in the cool, punk elements of television. that combined with their duran duran hair makes bone fide dirty-garage electro-rock clash at its most fucking brilliant." Kitty-Yo

"Molloy are the product of a mad cockney scientist (why is it always scientists that are mad - would it work if it was a mad postman?) who wanted to create a new electro-pop supergoup by filtering The Rapture into a test tube containing trace elements of early Human League and Goldfrapp." The Devil Has The Best Tuna
